Notes for Chastine MORRISON

Much of the information about Timothy Morrison and his family is from a
listing of births and deaths of the Morrison family in the handwriting of
Mate Snow Thurtell written in the early 1930's with the annotation "The
old family Bible was gone - no one knew anything about it. These names
and dates were copied in the one Bible they have now." This sheet is in
the possession of Susan Persia Thurtell Miller. This sheet shows
Chastine Morrison was born December 1, 1834. Records of the Groton Town
Clerk, Caledonia County, Vermont, researched in 1997 for Susan Miller by
Jim Dresser (Jim@@Dresser.net) confirm Chastine Morrison was born December
1, 1834.

Other data bases show her name as Chestine or Christine.

Timothy Morrison and his family are listed in the 1850 U.S. Census for
Groton, Caledonia County, Vermont (Cale 137, lines 154-158). This shows
Timothy Morrison, age 45, a farmer, owning real estate valued at $2800,
living with his wife, Olive, age 42, and his children Harriet age 19,
Christine age 16, Braley (should be Bradley) age 13, George age 11,
Mariah age 8, and Betsey age 5. All of them were born in Vermont. The
census was ennumerated on September 13, 1850, with the information as of
June 1, 1850.

Timothy Morrison is also listed in the Vermont 1840 U.S. Census index
(Cale 360, Groton). He is not listed in the Vermont 1820 or 1830 U.S.
Census indexes.
