Notes for Caroline HIGGINSON

Records of Woodlawn Cemetery, Guelph, Ontario, Canada, show that in
Section F, Row 9, are buried Arthur H. Goodeve, born 1821, died 1889, and
his wife, Caroline Higginson, born 1826, died 1909. Also are buried
there are the children of A. H. and C. Goodeve, Charles Wallace, born
1856, died 1904; and Mary Jane, born 1862, died 1865. The cemetery
records show that all four of them were living in Guelph. The children
were shown as natives of Canada, while Caroline was shown as a native of
Ireland and Arthur Goodeve a native of England. Caroline's date of death
is shown as February 11, 1909, due to "advanced age" at age 86; and she
was buried on February 13, 1909.

A notice in the "Guelph Advertiser" on April 2, 1847, shows that "On
Tuesday last, by the Rev. E. Martin, Miss Caroline Higginson" was married
"to Mr Arthur Henry Goodeve, both of the township of Guelph."

A letter written probably in the 1850's or 1860's from Samuel Higginson
of Amador County, California, to his sister, Amelia Higginson, refers to
Caroline and their previously living in Canada. This Caroline Higginson
Goodeve must be the sister of Amelia Higginson Thurtell.
