Notes for Minnie Mae OSTRANDER

In an August 1998 conversation, Jean Jahraus and Edna Mary Hutchinson
recalled that their uncle, Benjamin Thurtell, had remarried Minnie after
Conchessia's death. Minnie had not realized that Ben was an alcoholic
before she married him. They recalled that Minnie spent quite some time
in the Traverse City, Michigan, mental institution before her death in
the mid 1960's. There was no nursing home in Traverse City at that time.

Social Security records for Social Security number 385-52-8171, show that
Minnie M. Thurtell was born February 14, 1887, in Michigan, the daughter
of Isabelle Robertson and Archibald Ostrander. She died September 17,
1965. She had no earnings under Social Security. She had received
Social Security widow's benefits on the account of her husband,
371-34-5645, whose name is shown as W. Benjamin Thurtell. Her date of
birth of February 14, 1887, would have been verified at the time she was
entitled to widow's benefits in January 1960. At the time of her death
the ZIP code for her mail was 49684, and she had a relative who was her
guardian as her representative payee since she was legally incompetent
and living in a public institution.

Records of Oakwood Cemetery, 1225 East Eighth Street, Traverse City,
Michigan 49686, 616-922-4907, show Minnie Mae Thurtell died September
17, 1965, at age 78 in Traverse City, Michigan. She is buried in Block
42, Lot 3, Second Edition, of Oakwood Cemetery.
