Notes for Susanna BROWNE

Susannah Browne was baptised at Lowestoft on February 12, 1764. She was
married at Blundeston on September 25, 1787, to Thomas Thurtell, then of
Flixton, Suffolk County, England. Susannah Browne Thurtell is buried
with her husband in the new church at Lakenham, Norfolk, where they
apparently lived.

Information received from Peter Murray in 1997 showed that the
grandfather of Susannah Browne Thurtell, wife of Thomas Thurtell, was
Robert Browne, a founding partner of the Lowestoft China Works, which
produced distinctive wares now highly prized by collectors. The Browne
family continued to manage the factory throughout its short history, from
1757 to 1799.
