Thurtell and Related Families
Notes for Gertrude Louise DANNE
The marriage certificate shows that Gertrude Louise Danne, age 20, and
Earl F. Thurtell, age 21, were married in Rogers Park, Chicago, Cook
County, Illinois on June 8, 1910. The birth certificate for her
daughter, Lois Louise Thurtell, who was born on April 23, 1912, in
Chicago shows that Gertrude Louise Danne Thurtell, a widow, age 22, was
living at 1438 Reed Place, Chicago, Illinois, at that time and that she
had been born in Chicago.
The 1920 U.S. Census for Cook County, Illinois (Vol. 93, ED 1447, Sheet
14, Line 19) shows Gertrude Thurtell, age 30, and her daughter, Lois
Thurtell, age 7, were living with Lois Thurtell's stepfather, James
Kryger, who was age 36 and born in Michigan. The family was living at
1408 Argyle, Chicago, Cook County, Illinois.
Records for Social Security number 267-30-4342 show that Gertrude D.
Kryger, who also used the name Gertrude L. Kryger, filed for Social
Security entitlement in July 1954 in Hollywood, California. Her date of
birth was July 21, 1889. She continued working earning about $3000 per
year until 1963, when she was 74 years old, although she did not work
under Social Security from prior to 1951 until 1956. She worked part
time again from 1972-1977. She filed for entitlement to Supplemental
Security Income in September 1978, showing her maiden name had been
Danne. Her address at the time of her death on October 26, 1982, was
Episcopal Home, 1428 Marengo, Alhambra, California 91803. Her Social
Security benefits were based only on her own work.
