Notes for Samuel HIGGINSON

The U.S. Census for 1860 for Amador County, Township No. 2, Lancha Plana Post Office, enumerated on June 21, 1860, numbers 547-548, lines 19 and 20, page 47, lists Saml Higginson, age 37, born in North Carolina, as Hotel Keeper, with real estate worth $1200 and personal property worth $500. His wife Caroline, age 27, was born in Ohio. No children are listed with them in this census. I was unable to locate Samuel Higginson in the 1850 California census index book. No index to the 1870 California census is available in the National Archives, Chicago, IL, and he was not found in Lancha Plana in 1870.
