Notes for David Benjamin FOLTS
The entry about Ransom B. Folts in a 1901 Grant County, Wisconsin, biographical record shows his brother, David B. Folts, "when a boy enlisted in Company K, 44th Wis. V. I., and served in the Army of the Tennessee. He married Miss Nora Shinoe, and is living on his farm near Dickeysville; they have one son, Lisle."
The Wisconsin marriage index shows D. B. Folts was married on September 26, 1888, in Grant County, Wisconsin, and records are in Volume 7, page 38, Sequence 03468.
Records of the Wisconsin Veterans Museum, 30 West Mifflin Street, Madison, Wisconsin 53707-7843, e-mail REFDESK@@mail.state.wi.us, show him as Benjamin Foltz, who was in Company K of the 44th Wisconson Infantry. He is shown as living at Jamestown, Grant County, Wisconsin in the 1885 Wisconsin veterans census, and in Dickeyville, Wisconsin, in the 1905 Wisconsin veterans census.
The Civil War Pension Index, found online at Ancestry.com in July 2000, shows that Benjamin Foltz was in Company K of the 44th Wisconsin Infantry and filed for an invalid pension on an illegible date possibly in 1890. The application number is 902.410, and the certificate number is 629.813, and the application was filed in Wisconsin.
