Notes for Payton T. VAUGHN

The 1901 Grant County, Wisconsin, Biographical Sketch Book, in the entry for Daniel Stanton, shows that Payton Vaughn of Lemars, Iowa, was the widower of Rebecca Withrow, daughter of William and Martha Withrow.

The July 24, 1926, "History of William Withrow" by Nellie Stanton with "Facts Furnished by Her Mother, Edith Withrow Stanton" shows Rebecca Withrow was the wife of Payton Vaughn of LeMars, Iowa. She died March 7, 1886, at age 40, leaving a husband and five children, two sons and three daughters. It also shows that Payton Vaughn remarried after Rebecca's death.
