Notes for Betsey EMERY

Reverend Rufus Emery's 1890 book, "Genealogical Records of Descendants of John and Anthony Emery of Newbury, Mass." showed that person 440, Betsey Emery, the daughter of Charles Emery and Ann (Hodgdon) Emery, married Bradbury Morrison of Sanford, Maine, on January 25, 1790. It shows he was born in 1766 and died April 20, 1810. The family moved from Sanford, Maine, to Groton, Vermont, about 1796. She and her husband and children are on page 358. She is listed with her parents, Charles Emery (person 122) and Ann Hodgdon on pages 329-330. This listing shows Betsey Emery and her siblings were born in Kittery, Maine. Her sister, Meribah, married Noah Morrison; but both of them died soon after their marriage according to this book.

In the book, "Mister Glover's Groton, the Chronical of Groton, Vermont from 1789 to 1978," published in 1978 for the Groton Historical Society by Phoenix Publishing, Canaan, New Hampshire, Betsey, the wife of Bradbury Morrison, is listed on page 140 as one of the earliest members of the Groton Baptist Church.

Betsey Morrison and her family are listed in the 1820 U.S. Census for Groton, Caledonia County, Vermont.
