In the obituary of her mother, Margaret Thurtell Stenzel, which appeared in "The News Guard," Lincoln City, Oregon, on May 8, 1969, in section 1, page 6, and is on file at the Lincoln City, Oregon, Public Library, survivors listed include "her husband, Frank; and two daughters, Janet Gibbons and Carol Stenzel of Portland."

"The News Guard," Lincoln City, Oregon, on page 10 of the January 23, 1975, issue includes the obituary of her grandfather, Dr. Wilfred Stewart Thurtell, who died at a Salem nursing home on January 10, 1975. Survivors listed inclueded his two granddaughters, Mrs. Janet Ashley and Miss Carol Stenzel, both of Greshan, Oregon.
