Notes for Jessie Ashcroft MURRAY

The family tree done by Harriet Thurtell about 1900 and the History of the Thurtell Family done by Susan Persia Thurtell about 1968 shows Jessie was unmarried. According to information received from Peter Murray in 1997, she married Percival Moorshead, "Percy," on November 9, 1908.

Information completed by her daughter, Maude Moorshead, in 1975 showed that Jessie Ashcraft Murray was born in 1877 and was the first baby christened in the Presbyterian Church on the West Bank, East London, South Africa. She was guest of honor at their 75th anniversary. Their ten children all attended the Golden Wedding of Ann Christina and Alfred Everitt Murray in 1905.
