The 1920 U.S. Census soundex for Michigan (Vol. 119, E.D. 299, Sheet 13, Line 44) shows Alexander Kasner and his family living at 928 Kirby Avenue, Detroit, Wayne County, Michigan. It shows he was white, age 28, born in Russian Poland, and came to the U.S. in 1910 and was an alien. His wife is shown as Bernice, age 27, born in Russian Poland, and also was an alien. Their daughter, Wanda J. Kasner, age 6, was born in Michigan. Also living with the family were Mary M. Blosh, age 22, born in Pennsylvania, relationship Boarder, and Julia C. Rubel, age 21, born in Michigan, relationship Boarder.

The 1928-29 Detroit, Michigan, City Directory on microfilm at the National Archives in Denver, Colorado, listed Alex Kasner, whose wife's name was Bernice, as a diemaker residing at 8227 East Brentwood Avenue, Detroit. At the same National Archives, on Reel 36A of the Detroit City Directory for 1931-32, Alex Kasner, whose wife's name is Bernice, is shown as a toolmaker with a home at 4803 Crane Avenue, Detroit. In the same directory his daughter is shown as Wanda Kasner, residing at 4803 Crane Avenue, Detroit.
