He was a First Lieutenant in the Army during World War I and saw service in France. He was a real estate developer in Florida at the time of the Florida land crash about 1927. He and his wife lived briefly in Washington, DC, after that and then moved to California, where he became a stockbroker shortly before the crash in 1929. He remained in California as a stockbroker until he retired in 1962. From about 1942 until he died he lived at 1060 Bush Street, San Francisco, California 94109.
