Notes for Samuel Clark SNOW

On page 1 of the 1870 U.S. Census for Walnut Township, Dallas County, Iowa, just before his brother, Charles Blanchard Snow, and his family, is Samuel C. Snow, age 32, a farmer born in New York, whose real estate is valued at $3200, and whose personal estate is valued at $1480. Living with him, although relationships are not shown in the 1870 census, are Ellen Snow, a white female age 36 and born in Ireland, whose parents were both of foreign birth, whose occupation is shown as keeping house. Also with them are Michael Snow, age 17 born in Illinois; Alice Snow, age 15 born in Illinois; Calhania Snow, age 13 born in Illinois; Lauretta Snow, age 7 born in Illinois; and Ellen, a baby born in Iowa. Also with the family is George Fredricson, a white male age 26 whose occupation is shown as farm laborer.

The book, "The History of Dallas County, Iowa," published in 1879 by the Union Historical Company, Des Moines, Iowa, and available at the Roy R. Estle Memorial Library, Dallas Center, Iowa, lists in the directory of Walnut Township, Dallas County, S. C. Snow, a farmer, in Section 35 with the Post Office shown as Dallas Center.
