Notes for Frank George MILLER

The 1963 Thurtell family history and the History of the Thurtell Family done by Susan Persia Thurtell about 1968 showed that Francis (Frank) George Miller was an industrial engineer with Clark Equipment Company, Benton Harbor, Michigan.

Information from a letter dated April 10, 1977, from Dr. James Walter Miller (Frank's twin brother) to Susan Persia Thurtell Miller and a copy of the obituary on Frank Miller provided by Albert M. Jahraus in 1977 showed that Frank G. Miller died in September 1970 and that at the time of his death he and his wife lived at 1019 Sylvan Drive, Benton Harbor, Michigan. He died at St. Luke's Hospital, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he had undergone heart surgery two months earlier. He was buried at North Shore Memory Gardens, and the funeral was arranged by the Frost Funeral Home with services at the Peace Temple United Methodist Church (all in or near Benton Harbor, Michigan). Esther Miller verified that North Shore Memory Gardens is in Benton Harbor, Michigan.

A January 20, 1998, letter from his widow, Esther Wright Miller, stated that he had his first coronary when he was only 41 and that he was a hearing aid audiologist after becoming unemployable because of heart trouble. She also stated that he was a semi-invalid for 17 years before he died on September 9, 1970, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She also stated that he was never called Francis - he had used the name Frank since childhood and may have legally changed his name to Frank. A February 3, 1998, letter from Esther Miller confirmed he had worked for Clark Equipment Company in Time Study prior to his health problems. He had also been a truck driver at one time.

Pictures of Frank and James Miller confirm that they were fraternal twins. Their mother often dressed them alike as small children. Frank had blond hair and blue eyes, while Jim had dark hair and brown eyes.
