The family tree done by Harriet Thurtell about 1900 and the History of the Thurtell Family done by Susan Persia Thurtell about 1968, both in the possession of Susan Persia Thurtell Miller, list Aubrey Edward Davies but give no further information. According to information received in 1997 from Peter Murray, he was born January 31, 1883, and was unmarried.

Information received from Evan Knox-Davies in 1999 shows his name as Edward Aubrey Clement Knox-Davies, the son of Elijah Knox Davies and Emily Ellen Probart, born January 30, 1884, in Hanover. It shows he was single and worked as a dentist in Seapoint, Cape Town, and that he died October 24, 1947. The surname was changed to the hyphenated Knox-Davies about 1885 following the death of his father.
