According to information received in 1997 from Peter Murray, his name was Lionel Sidney Knox Davies, born October 10, 1881. He and his wife had two children.

Information received from Evan Knox-Davies in 1999 showed that Lionel Sydney Knox-Davies was born October 10, 1881, in Hanover, and died in 1948 at age 67 in Graaf Reinet, South Africa, and that he worked as a magistrate. The surname of Lionel and his siblings was changed to the hyphenated Knox-Davies about 1885 after his father's death.
