Notes for Charles Norman KNOX-DAVIES

The family tree done by Harriet Thurtell about 1900 and the History of the Thurtell Family done by Susan Persia Thurtell about 1968, both in the possession of Susan Persia Thurtell Miller, list Charles Norman Davies but provide no further information about him. According to information received in 1997 from Peter Murray, in 1917 he married Florence Evans, nee Edkins, the widow of David Charles Evans. They had no children.

Information received in 1999 from Evan Knox-Davies showed that Charles Norman Knox-Davies, the son of Elijah Knox Davies and Emily Ellen Probart, was born June 23, 1879, at Hanover and died February 15, 1959, in Johannesburg. It also shows he married Florence Gertrude Evans (nee Edkins) and that he was an attorney-at-law and had no children. The last name for Charles and his siblings was changed to the hyphenated Knox-Davies about 1885 after his father's death.
