Notes for Charlotte THURTELL

The History of the Thurtell Family done by Susan Persia Thurtell about 1968 and family tree done by Harriet Thurtell about 1900 shows Charlotte Thurtell married James Paine and had a son, Thomas Paine.

Information received from Peter Murray in 1997 shows that Charlotte Thurtell was not yet married and was still underage when her father's will was proved in 1801, her power being reserved as an executor, but when she was sworn on December 7, 1804, she was "now the wife of Thomas Paine of Lowestoft, gent." It is unknown if Thomas Paine and James Paine are the same person. His records show she was baptised September 18, 1782, at St. Mary's, Blundeston, Suffolk, England.
